BlackRock XRP ETF Speculation Heats Up as Institutions Take Notice

The crypto market keeps circling one pressing question: will a BlackRock XRP ETF become reality? With six asset managers already operating U.S. spot XRP ETFs and holding a combined $1 billion in assets, the conditions for the industry's largest player to enter are slowly aligning and investors are paying close attention.

Why BlackRock Has Not Filed Yet

BlackRock evaluates every new crypto product through five key factors: client demand, market capitalization, liquidity, maturity, and portfolio fit. XRP satisfies several of those criteria. It ranks as the fourth-largest non-stablecoin cryptocurrency with a market cap above $80 billion, and the SEC lawsuit against Ripple reached a resolution in August 2025, officially confirming XRP's non-security status on secondary markets.

However, demand from BlackRock's core institutional base pensions, endowments, insurance companies, and sovereign wealth funds has not yet reached the firm's internal threshold. Until it does, a formal filing is unlikely.

What Could Accelerate a BlackRock XRP ETF Launch

Canary Capital CEO Steven McClurg expects BlackRock to pursue a spot BlackRock XRP ETF by late 2026 or early 2027, assuming current trends hold. The clearest trigger: combined XRP ETF assets surpassing the $3 billion mark would make the commercial case for BlackRock's entry hard to overlook.

For perspective, BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF accumulated $54 billion in assets following its launch permanently reshaping how institutions access digital assets. A comparable move in XRP would tighten exchange supply, reduce available liquidity, and generate consistent structural buying pressure across the market.

What Traders and Investors Should Watch

Existing XRP ETFs recorded 35 straight trading days without a single outflow after their November 2025 debut a streak that neither Bitcoin nor Ethereum ETFs matched at launch. This signals durable institutional demand already in motion.

Analysts suggest that a confirmed BlackRock XRP ETF filing could attract $2 billion or more in inflows, with long-term price projections revised higher in several institutional models.
