What is the Funding Rate?The funding rate is a periodic fee paid to long or short traders based on the difference between the market price of a perpetual contract and the spot price. When the market trend is bullish, the funding rate is positive and increases over time. In this case, a long trader in a perpetual contract will pay the funding fee to the other trader. On the contrary, when the market is bearish, the funding rate is negative, and it is the short trader in a sustainable contract that pays the funding fee to the long trader.Through this mechanism, abnormal market sentiment can be corrected, guiding the deviation from the “index price” of the “latest traded price” to return to the “index price”, so that the sustainable trading target can be anchored to the “index price”. Hold” facilitates the increase of the index price. The party holding a position that “promotes the increase of the index price deviation” pays a fee so that the party holding a position that “promotes the decrease of the index price deviation” receives a fee, and the larger the position, the higher the fee paid/received by the user.
